His unlikely entry into the art world began while serving a prison sentence in his twenties, where he discovered a hidden creative energy and began corresponding with leading YBAs including Sarah Lucas, Gavin Turk, Gary Hume, Tracy Emin, and Mark Wallinger

With a strong background in art marketing and communications, Jan has helped make fine art more accessible to wider audiences while supporting collectors in discovering exceptional contemporary works. Her expertise spans artist promotion, digital marketing strategy, and art consultancy—skills she also brings to managing the marketing for the Sussex Portrait Artist of the Year competition.
Passionate about supporting artists and celebrating creativity, Jan will head up Brighton CAN, helping strengthen the city’s creative community.
